Buttock Augmentation
Buttock shape is a matter of projection and proportion rather than volume alone. Depending on your build and the amount of fat available, the answer is either transfer of your own fat or, in selected cases, an implant.
At a glance
How it is performed
Where fat transfer is chosen, liposuction harvests fat from the areas that will also benefit from being slimmer — usually the waist and flanks — which is why the operation improves the silhouette as a whole rather than one area in isolation.
The prepared fat is placed in layers to build projection. A proportion is naturally reabsorbed over the first months; this is expected and taken into account when planning the volume.
Sitting is restricted in the early phase to protect the graft, and a compression garment is worn. Your consultation covers, honestly, whether the result you have in mind is achievable with your tissue.
Who is it for
- Flat or disproportionate buttock contour relative to the waist and thighs.
- Patients with enough donor fat elsewhere — abdomen, flanks, thighs — for a transfer.
- Very slim patients with insufficient donor fat, for whom an implant may be discussed instead.
- Stable weight and realistic expectations: a proportion of transferred fat is always reabsorbed.

Recovery timeline
- Days 1–3
Prolonged sitting is avoided; a special cushion is used where necessary.
- Week 1
Swelling and bruising in the donor areas peak, then begin to settle.
- Weeks 2–3
Return to office work with sitting precautions.
- Weeks 4–6
Gradual return to exercise.
- Months 3–6
Volume stabilises once reabsorption is complete; the final shape is visible.
Risks & honest expectations
- Partial reabsorption of transferred fat, which may require a second session.
- Contour irregularity or asymmetry.
- Fluid collection, infection and delayed healing.
- With implants: displacement, capsule formation and a higher infection rate than with fat.
- Fat transfer to the buttock must be performed in the correct plane by an experienced surgeon; this is a procedure where technique, not price, determines safety.

Questions about this procedure
Fat transfer or implant?
Fat is preferred wherever there is enough of it: it feels natural and improves the donor area too. Implants are reserved for very slim patients and discussed with their specific risks.
How long before I can sit normally?
Sitting is limited for the first two to three weeks, using a cushion that keeps pressure off the grafted area.
Will the result last?
Fat that survives the first three to six months stays, provided your weight remains stable.
